On January 1, 2013, the Fonghuanggu Bird Park came under the management of NMNS and was renamed the Fonghuanggu Bird and Ecology Park. On January 30, 2013, the Chelungpu Fault Preservation Park began trial operation. These two parks, along with the 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan, are important environmental and science education resources in central Taiwan that allow NMNS to better fulfill its educational and recreational functions.
